It’s great to get fresh new ideas and lessons. I was so touched by so many stories and info the last couple of days at the TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF STUDENT COUNCILS ADVISOR WORKSHOP. Such good stuff! Great ideas and resources were discussed and absorbed into my little brain!
A bonus was that I was not only a learner, but also a teacher –I got to present some of my fave leadership lessons. I ran out of handouts!!! It was great to be able to serve as student and teacher.
I’m so blessed to do what I do.
The school district where I work has administrators who believe in leadership and that it is important–I’m so grateful. I hear other advisors talk about how hard it is for them to get to come to such events. I don’t understand this, because things like this learning experience this weekend are essential. It equips us for teaching leadership. It helps us connect with a network of leader-learners.
It’s all about connections– with other professionals, with others who can help and assist us AND with our students. If you can’t “get” them, they are definitely NOT going to get anything you want them to. Training like I got in the last 2 days opened my eyes to new ways to “hook” my students!
Thank you OCHS and especially Mr. Wright for believing in ME and what I do and allowing me to go to this workshop.
Leader learning has really energized me as this workshop does every year. Again–so exciting!!!
