There are so many people out there with secrets, with torment and pain.  We go on knowing that what we are doing is wrong.  Believe me, I know this, because I’m one of those.  I’m certain you are too.  You have something you haven’t told others about yourself or there is something that you do that you know you shouldn’t.  You try not to, but it happens. Sometimes we may do it and not even realize it until it’s out there–like a lion released from it’s cage!  I could start listing specific things, but I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.  WE ALL SIN.

Most of us judge our sins by others’ sins.  We tend to think our sin is better or “cleaner” than someone else’s sin so it’s not so bad.  Some of our sins are culturally accepted so what’s really bad about it?  We think such sins are just “ok.”  It’s not.  It’s still dark, ugly and of the devil.  Anything that is “of the devil” is NOT ok.  Still, we don’t think that way… we don’t see the sin for what it truly is and keep on doing it, not concerned with what it may be doing to ourselves or to those around us.

What is it doing to your TESTIMONY?

I have an unspoken prayer request for someone I know who needs God’s strength to overcome sin.  We all need that.  We all need to pray for each other.  We need GOD’s strength to get satan off our back and to pull away from all the sins that plague us.

Prayer is power!  We are blessed with this power in the present world …helping us prepare for the world of reward promised to us by the blood of JESUS!

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

We all have our demons…

What demons are you battling this week?  this month?  this year?  this life?

We all have our demons.  We have those things that get to us.  We have that sin we hold on to.  We have that struggle we just can’t ever seem to overcome.  We all have SOMETHING.

I know a young woman who is absolutely beautiful.  She is tall, just the right size, big beautiful eyes, and a list of other physical attributes that would definitely have anyone judging this book by it’s cover as a classic read.  She has it all, right!?  NOT.  When you look a little deeper, you see a frown.  You experience a horrible attitude.  You are subjected to a foul disposition and an ugliness that makes you feel like you might be looking at the dark one himself.  It truly is a classic case of beauty being only skin deep.  God made this young woman.  He made her beautiful.  He made her intelligent.  By the way she is clothed and carries herself, she doesn’t seem to want for anything.  Apparently, though, she wants more of something.  But what?  Who knows.  Only she would be able to tell you this IF she feels as if you need to know which probably won’t happen.  It’s sad to see.  Why someone can be put together so perfect physically yet lack all the heart.  She is battling some kind of demon.  Perhaps it is her home life, friend status or the horrible self-esteem issues which may compound from the former two.  Again, who knows, but she is in a battle.  The world does not see her battle.  The world sees her beauty and counts her as OK.

BUT GOD…WHAT DOES GOD SEE? What would Jesus say to her?  Would he remind her of her beauty and help equip her with the tools she needs to fight the demons?  I believe this would definitely be the case.  Due to God’s immeasurable love for us, He sent Jesus to cover all of our sins, take away our fears and shortcomings  and create a new person in us–washing away all the old!

How does this young lady (or how do we) get to the point where we can fight our demons and WIN?

Also in the story below, the disciples want to know why they couldn’t help the young boy get rid of his demon and JESUS says, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Read the entire story:

Mark 9:14-29

New King James Version (NKJV)  from

A Boy Is Healed

14 And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them. 15 Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running toHim, greeted Him. 16 And He asked the scribes, “What are you discussing with them?”

17 Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit.18 And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”

19 He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” 20 Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.

21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”

And he said, “From childhood. 22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it:“Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spiritcried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.

28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”

29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

We must do this in order to keep our faith.  I believe that sometimes we come to a point where our walk with God becomes routine.  We say the same prayers.  We throw the same stuff at God.  We don’t take time to listen to him.  We don’t pray and fast.  (Definition: To fast is to do without food.  Its purpose is to experience the effects of not eating.  It also serves to be a penance or a sacrifice – for the purpose of strengthening us.)  We especially do not do this in America where food is something we tend to worship and is most always taking the place of GOD.  We need to push away the things that hinder us from a true relationship with God even if it is our dinner plate.  As Jesus said, this, along with prayer, is how we can really get rid of those demons.

I know you may not see your struggle as a demon like the story above, but this is what I took as I listened to this story through the Daily Audio Bible this last week.  I’ve read this story several times since this day and totally believe it has helped me with my “demons.”  THIS KIND CAN COME OUT BY NOTHING BUT PRAYER AND FASTING.

I thank God for His increase.  He shows me Himself more and more as I read and study His word.

If you have stories of how He has shown you something through the scripture, I would love to hear it!  If you don’t want to reply here, email me:

One of my posts today on FB which I found as a tweet on Twitter:

Let go of disappointments and setbacks in your life and hang on to the promises of God for your future!  @ArmorOGod  retweeted by God’s Grace and @RitaClawson

We all have those doubts and fears and that funky gut feeling when old sins creep up in our heads.  The devil whispers in your ear.  That horrible liar makes you think those things you did in the past are still fresh and can make you even get a paranoid feeling that everyone around you is judging you because of them.  Well, maybe they are, but does that have to effect what awesome things lie ahead?!  Not NO, but SHABAMALAMA NO!  As I said WE ALL have those sins.  We all have things we wish we didn’t do or say, places we shouldn’t have been and people we should have perhaps never allowed to stay in our lives.  If you have someone around you throwing up things from your past, you can absolutely, without a doubt know that they are doing this so no light will shine on their little (or big!) “skeletons in the closet.”  Do not allow them, (who let’s say it–are working for the devil..ew!)–to ruin your day, your week…YOUR FUTURE!  Hold on to the promises that GOD will sustain you.  He will show you your plan.  Once you hold on to HIS promises, none of those disappointments or setbacks can EVER hold you back again.  That is what you call FREEEEEEEEEDOM which allows you to move forward without any of those nasty ole sin shackles.

Ok, so I’m not trying to BRAG OR ANYTHING, but I just realized today that I lost weight and have kept it off for over a year!  So, well, I guess I am bragging about it, but I’m NOT bragging on myself.

I was talking to one of my super new friends (I love meeting awesome people!) and we were just sharing some stories and I was typing to her later about the “weight-loss” story and a light bulb went off.   Super Awesome Wow—I kept those pounds off!  I’m not sure I’ve ever done that in my life.  So, how did I do it?  ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD!  Only by knowing that through HIM I can do all things.

This is a total  “well, uhh, duhhhh” kind of moment for me.  Why didn’t I do this before in my life?  Oh sure, I lost weight in the past, but never really kept it off.  It always seemed to creep back up and say BOO!  ha!  And I’m not saying I don’t need to lose more.  I know this.  I’ve blogged before about needing to be healthier.  If we are all completely honest with ourselves, we all need to be healthier.  I mean, we are flawed humans who live in a sinful world.  Another– “duhhhh.”

So, I posted the before and after picture above that I’ve only shown to my husband.  I made it last summer sometime.   I just did it for kicks, but looking at it now, I think about the road.  I think about the journey and how God continuously encourages us.  He helps us when we are weak.  He scoots us along or pulls us up.  It’s amazing what you can do if you only BELIEVE!  I’ve not always been one that totally and absolutely believed and there are moments where I still waver and fall (DUMB HUMAN!), but thank you LORD for allowing me to be a sinner saved by Your absolute grace!  I’m bragging on GOD, not myself!  He is the SUPER AWESOME WOW!

I’m still on that journey.  If you are reading this, so are you.  What your journey holds, who knows.  What mine holds, who knows.  But I do know, that holding on to God and finding my strength in Him whether it’s weight loss or some other crazy human struggle, will make the journey so much sweeter.  (Reminds me of another friend…Joy for the Journey!)  Now that is some “Super Awesome Wow.”

So, I’ve been avoiding this subject. It seems like for the last couple of weeks, I’ve just been hit with the subject of pain. Not that I’ve been in any particular amount of physical pain or anything. I have just had stories or instances where PAIN was the main subject of it. I’m still reading the book of Job too. Wow, did he have some pain! Pain is something we all have. I’m sure glad my pain is nothing like Job’s.

We have pain that comes in SO many forms. Pain can be physical like a hammer to the thumb, a broken bone or an open wound. It can be that pain you get from an old break like my ankle I broke in 8th grade. That was years ago, but the ache is still there from bones which had to mend. We have pain from seeing things, hearing things or experiencing things. A pain that keeps coming up in my mind, though, is the mental anguish we experience when we have Jesus in our hearts, but the world is pulling at us. The stanky ole devil has us by the ankle trying to trip us up every chance we get. It’s a nagging pain sometimes. It’s that small little whisper you hear that says, “Awww, it won’t hurt you to do that just once.” It’s like a beckoning. You can picture this…

Think about your weakness–the one or two or three things that you just sometimes love more than God. O MY! Did I say it?! Yes, we all do it. We know we should continue to be in the center of God’s will, but we slip and slide like we are on a big tarp with baby oil! Sometimes it is exactly like that and you don’t know where you are going to land. This, I believe, is the worse kind of pain. It’s not exactly like the pain of cancer or other physical ailments that we all know about, but it’s so very deadly. It can suck you in and pull you away from YOUR PURPOSE.

One more example of this pain is when we get so frustrated with others. This is the one that plagues me the most. I want to love others as Jesus told us to. He told us to love EVERYONE! Ugh! Not just the ones who are easy to love, but everyone. I get so frustrated with people in my life who don’t appreciate others. I’m not just talking about those not appreciating me, but the ones I see that take advantage of situations or treat their loved ones like they owe them something. What!? I have to love those people?! I have to love the ones that are not thankful and grateful of other people. We do! We have to love people even when they spit on us or call us names. Now *THAT’S* some pain.

PAIN, it comes in so many forms, but to me, this feeling of pain that comes from getting out of the will of God is worse than a broken bone. It’s worse than CHILD LABOR! And if you are a momma, you know that is saying a lot! It’s mental anguish that can only be taken away by the precious blood that Jesus shed. NOW THAT WAS SOME PAIN! But He did it willingly. How do we take pain that would never amount to that? OUCH!!!

Proof of HIS Love!

On my way home tonight I saw a church billboard which asked the question:  “Are you showing God’s love?”  IMMEDIATELY the song I’ve included above came on.  PLEASE go listen to it.  It’s one of those songs I’ve heard before, but I admit, I have never really, truly listened to it’s lyrics.  It answered the question on the billboard.  I HOPE THAT MY LIFE IS PROOF OF GOD’S LOVE!

I know my life  has not always reflected God.  There were years in my life that I knew who Jesus was.  I talked to God.  I prayed my little night time prayers and I blessed my food.  I even felt goosebumps when I felt like I was close to what God wanted me to do.  BUT I DIDN’T really reallly reeaaallly know Jesus.  I didn’t look at God as my true creator.  He was more like this big guy in the sky.  You know, that is what I’ve heard some athiest call Him.  EW!  I never ever never want to think like that ever again.

I can’t tell you the exact day I finally figured it out.  I mean, I know there are people who can tell you the exact day and hour that they actually got “saved,” but I can estimate the time where I finally figured out that Jesus is my personal savior!  I **FINALLY** decided that there were things in my life that were actually plans of the devil himself.  Did I drop all of those things cold turkey?  No.  Wish I could have!  Who doesn’t hope for peace, hope and a clean conscience!?   Even though I wasn’t able to drop them immediately, I did begin my journey of moving away from them.  Amen, Halleluia, Praise God!

I am such a sinner.  SUCH A SINNER!  We all have those gritty grimey things that clutter and cloud our mind.  I know I cringe or even get sick to my stomach thinking about some of the things I’ve done that were not Godly.   Positively though, I know, looking back, I’m not where I was 10 years ago.  I’m not where I was 5 years ago.  I’m not where I was a YEAR AGO!   AND I am not where I want to be now.  I want to be closer to God.  I want to be able to be in constant fellowship with Him.  I want to be able to LISTEN and hear what He wants me to do in all things.  I know I want a lot!  But I totally and absolutely believe that because I have Jesus as my savior, my faithful friend, my grace and my power, I can do all things THROUGH HIM!  I can continue to grow in Him and become THE PROOF OF HIS LOVE!

I want to reflect God’s love.  I don’t want to just share it, I want to shine it all around!  I want to show others that He is the reason for my joy.  Love one another.  Show the world your smile and your love and watch how the PROOF OF HIS LOVE grows all around you!
