My definition of WORSHIP

After listening to the preacher’s sermon today, I started thinking about WORSHIP.  Everyone has their idea of worship.  What does worship mean to you?

My definition of worship:

That to me is true worship.  Worship is not something you stop.  It should be something that you are constantly doing.  When I think of my God, I believe worship is love and love is worship.

We do not stop loving our children.  God does not stop loving us.  We should not stop loving him.  It should be CONSTANT.

I know we are to get on our knees and go to the Lord in prayer daily.  We are to tell others what He has done for us.  Blessings are to be counted.  Be still and know…and listen to God.  Read the Bible.  Study together with other believers.  Feed yourself with the knowledge God reveals to you through others such as teachers and preachers.  Most of us consider all of these acts of worship.  I believe they are, but  you know we are not doing all of these things all of the time.  So, to worship is more than all of these.  It’s something you don’t turn off.   If you consider GOD first in all you do, worship will continue.  And that is what we are supposed to do, right?

I’m not saying I’ve always felt this way.  I thought going to church was what I needed to do to be a believer.  I thought memorizing a few Bible verses is what I needed to do to be a believer.  I thought being nice to others, being on my best behavior and carrying a Bible in my purse is what I needed to do as a believer.

All of those things are great, but to truly worship God, He has told me so much through the Bible.

…we need to take further steps…we have to do it as the Bible says—

You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.                        -Matthew 22:37

If we can do that,

we can WORSHIP like we are supposed to…ALL ..THE.. TIME.

It really is simple.

So my friend who used to be my boss posted this blog about the ONE WORD.  He’s a pretty smart guy and had asked his faculty to send him a word… I will let you go read his blog: PLEASE CLICK HERE TO READ HIS BLOG FIRST.

…and watch the ONE WORD video there…

Here’s part of my message I posted to his blog:

You know I can’t narrow my life to one word…THAT WOULD BE TOO SIMPLE! ALTHO–The word that has been repeating itself in my mind over and over for several days now in the face of all kinds of crazy life stuff (nothing bad, just life) is LOVE. I know I love, but do I love like I’m supposed to? Do I ALWAYS love like I’m supposed to? I don’t when I blow up at my kids or feel defeated looking at my laundry which has become like Mount Rushmore (serious, with faces and everything) …

I GOTTA REMEMBER TO LOVE in all circumstances. NO MATTER WHAT IS GOING ON!  People may hate on me, children may say my name like a broken record (ha!  kids these days don’t even know what “broken record” means) and I might feel stressed by stuff going on around me…BUT LOVE DOESN’T LOSE IT’S COOL…Love shows LOVE.  Love creates LOVE.  Love shows mercy and grace and brings on comfort and peace.
I want to LOVE like Jesus loves us.

It really is simple.

Friends are blessings…

It was great to be at our friend’s house. We some girl time. We had some awesome steak. We praised Jesus. We visited with old friends. That is love and it keeps you young.

Crush Cancer 5K

I’m eat up with working on this 5K event that is coming up. It’s so exciting!! I can’t wait to see who all shows up and what we do for this great cause–TEXAS ONCOLOGY FOUNDATION.
Today, we got our event shirts in. These were printed for those who pre-registered for the event.

I really like doing stuff that helps others. I believe this project will end up supporting people here in our area. That is so exciting 😄😜😀!

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!

I can say to myself: I TOLD YOU SO!

I was praising God before to today, did it during this day and will continue to do it everyday espcially for days like today!

Yes, I’m shouting.  I’m screaming!  Well, not really physically (my throat is worn out!), but my entire being is so giddy with blessings I almost don’t know what to do.  It’s hard for me to sit here and write this, I have so much energy.  I’ve been running around since I got home trying to calm myself down.  I know, it sounds weird, but it’s like a jolt of pure adrenalin.

I wrote a couple of days ago that today, I’d be singing at a women’s event.  I have had laryngitis for over two weeks, but I knew God would bless this day no matter how I sounded.  HE WOULD MAKE MY SOUND PLEASING TO HIM!  –Because really, truly, for real–it’s all about HIM.  It’s not about me, it’s not about you, it’s not about what you have or are gonna have, do or want to do—it’s about GOD.  Today was another confirmation to me that MY GOD IS REAL!  If I could sing right now, I’d be singing that song:

My God is real, real in my soul
My God is real for He has washed and made me whole
His love for me is like pure gold
My God is real for I can feel Him in my soul

PRAISES!  I want all I do to praise Him.

Today, I sang.  I actually made sounds and they were, most of the time, on key and full.  There was a few “ify” moments, but I warned the crowd there may be and I’d just be singing no matter what.  I gave it my all, because GOD had me.  It was Him who made what I did a blessing –He used me!  That is the most exciting part!

The whole event was such a blessing.  It was a day of rejoicing and knowing that God is in control.  The speakers were awesome–I call them both my good friends, I love them so.  Tammy Whitehurst and Teresa Richenberger are two super talented Christian women who share their stories and insight on why everyone should know and trust in Jesus.  I’ve heard them both several times and I never get tired of listening to their testimonies, anecdotes and real life truth.  They are both such POSITIVE people.  I love to surround myself with those types. 🙂

The church we were at today was a place where I felt the warmth of friendship right when I entered the door–such a blessing.  Hugs and smiles and happy greetings were flying from every direction.  The women who put this event together did such a great job of making sure everyone felt welcome and at home.  Those in attendance were so full of joy and ready to praise God together.  This cowboy church–The Circle C was a spirit filled place where I could feel God moving the entire time I was there!

I’m just going to share a couple of pictures of the event today.

  • The first one is the panoramic I took from the stage when I was about to sing.  I loved doing this!  It got everyone SMILING right off the bat!
  • The second one is of my new friend Sylvia and I.  This lady made me smile the entire event.  She greeted me early on and always had a smile for me whenever I looked her way.  This sweet woman kept her Bible open and her hands in the air!  She would say “PRAISE THE LORD” in the sweetest little voice.  I told her numerous times how cute she is, because I saw God in her.  I want to be like Sylvia!  I thank God for allowing me to see HIM in her.  Amen!

I am just in awe…consistent and constant awe of the fact that the Lord meets our needs and allows us all He does.

We really don’t want for anything. We have food, we have water, oxygen, a comfortable home with nice beds and an air conditioner. Oh Lord, my God, thank you for AIR CONDITIONING!

He is the reason we are able to do what we do. The fact that our body works as the miracle it is…wow!

I am dedicating this blog today to HIM as I should everything I do. He gives me all the abilities I have. Actually, they are His abilities. I believe He just allows them to flow through me in order that I give HIM praise.

We are not blessed by ourselves nor should we boast about things we have or do. We are blessed by God. It’s only through Him that we can function–correctly.

I’m ALWAYS thankful for the blessings. I don’t always voice it, but I pray and pray and pray that I tell God enough. I can’t really tell Him enough. Nothing I do can amount to anything close to what He does for me or my family. He is in constant motion to provide and protect and guide. I praise Him. I thank Him.

He is the reason I smile.
He is the reason I have a job.
The reason I can breathe. Walk. Talk. Sing. Blink my eye lids!

He constantly and consistently shows me I am loved, I am somebody and I matter.

Thank You Lord. Thank You my God.
