So, I met this guy tonight…
He was the cutest thing!
His joy was apparent.
He had a smile, a way and a personality which was magnetic.
This guy was one of those people you instantly like.
You smile the entire time he speaks and don’t even realize it UNTIL your face begins to ache a little …
God blessed me with his presence.
I feel blessed.
This wonderfully sweet guy was 81 years old.
AND He had some great advice for getting to be 81.
He said there are two things you must stay away from in order to make it to 81 like he has. He said you have to stay out of the way of these two things, whatever you do.
(I was ready to hear something like smoking or drinking or negative thinking…)
#1 Fautly Trees
and then he giggled a giggle that made everyone giggle.
I thank God for the bright lights He sends us while we are in this world of dark, dull and negative people. There are rays of sunlight that beam out of people and I just want to bask in them! I’m so glad I met this guy who shined tonight!
One of my favorite quotes:
I advise a group of great student council kiddos.
Today, the officer group went to our superintendent and shared the platform they are going to use to run for a Texas Association of Student Councils state office. Included in the platform is a huge project involving a 5K event that the students want to be something MORE than just the 5k part.
I’m so proud of all of the things they have come up with for the platform and can’t wait to see them present themselves at the state convention.
They were so prepared and ready to share and brainstorm at this meeting this morning. They wanted to get help from our superintendent’s resources and ideas. I knew they would do great with their presentation, but I was not expecting their EXCITEMENT when they returned from the meeting.
All the students had a kind of fire in their eyes when they returned. They were all talking about ideas and things they needed to do to get going on this BIG FUNDRAISER.
They had been kind of dragging their feet, not really on purpose. They are all so busy and I was out sick last week–none of that helped!
So, after we have this upcoming 3-day weekend (THANK YOU MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.!), I’m interested to see what they will get done on Tuesday when we return. This will be a major learning adventure for all of them and they are ALL EXCITED about it! Their excitement makes me EXCITED!
