Wonderful, awesome, sassy and crazy…

A friend/co-worker of mine shared this t-shirt on my FB page today.  I LOVE IT!  What I love most is when I read that it makes me get even MORE excited about this coming Monday.  I *GET* to go back to work after summer vacation.  I’m so blessed.  I, of course, love my summer, but WOW, DO I LOVE MY JOB!  I do!  Some people think I’m nuts.  I’m cool with that. I am nuts about the job God has given me.

Because…I truly believe in this verse right here:

Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, -Colossians 3:23 (HCSB)

We are SUPPOSED to be excited about our work…

Enthusiastic about our daily jobs…  here’s another version of the verse:

Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people.

(International Standard Version)

I love that..WHOLEHEARTEDLY!  Do it with all your heart. (BIG HUGE CRAZY SMILEY FACE HERE)

I have this saying hanging in my shop:  Love what you do and you will never work a day in your life.

Here’s another one: Make your vocation your vacation.

And let’s not forget to do this:

I thank God for my WONDERFUL job where I get to teach some AWESOME kiddos, work with some SASSY people AND they all love me even though I’m CRAZY!

ONLY GOD can do stuff like that!

I was asked to pray for a specific thing by a friend the other day.  I got down on my knees and asked God to help her, give her calm and to provide whatever He can to make her at peace with the situation.  Little, and let me stress LITTLE did I know that what He would provide would be bigger and better than anything I could imagine.

My friend Tammy who I’ve written about on here before is a Christian motivational speaker.  She had been asked to speak at a funeral of a very dear friend–one of those “inner-circle” friends.  This friend had battled cancer and had planned on Tammy and the other friends in their circle to help with arrangements.

The prayer I prayed for Tammy was calling to God about somehow making it possible for her to speak at that funeral even though she was previously booked to speak out of town.  There were just a handful of people who knew about this dilemma and we were all praying.  There is no way the prayer warriors could see what was coming.  And there is no way any of us can explain it or rationalize it… we can only be in awe of what happened…

Here’s the message I received from Tammy about the solution:

A man contacted me today. He has a private jet. His wife has cancer. He has hired a pilot to fly me to Abilene in his private jet as soon as funeral is over. Only God can do stuff like that. Only God can make the impossible possible. It will only be me and the pilot on the plane. He said to me….no charge. Just keep helping people.  …

It’s exactly what she said: ONLY GOD can do…THAT!

This man listened to God, because that is WHO told him to offer his help.  This is not a person for his own glory …this is a man who wants to see GOD glorified by doing great things.  Wow.

“Wow,” is what I just keep saying over and over about this.  I was honored to be able to pray for this situation and humbled by the amazingness, total awesomeness that came together.  My puny little brain could never imagine… a private jet!?!

This is GOD showing up and there is nothing else you can say to explain this.  ONLY GOD CAN DO STUFF LIKE THAT!

Just try and tell me there’s no God…  HA!  Not buyin’ it.  There is a GOD and HE is awesome… and He has more plans and solutions than we could ever imagine.  Awesome.

ONLY GOD can do stuff like that!

Leaving with a song Tammy shared with me that she said she kept singing… (it’s so true!)

There are so many people out there with secrets, with torment and pain.  We go on knowing that what we are doing is wrong.  Believe me, I know this, because I’m one of those.  I’m certain you are too.  You have something you haven’t told others about yourself or there is something that you do that you know you shouldn’t.  You try not to, but it happens. Sometimes we may do it and not even realize it until it’s out there–like a lion released from it’s cage!  I could start listing specific things, but I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.  WE ALL SIN.

Most of us judge our sins by others’ sins.  We tend to think our sin is better or “cleaner” than someone else’s sin so it’s not so bad.  Some of our sins are culturally accepted so what’s really bad about it?  We think such sins are just “ok.”  It’s not.  It’s still dark, ugly and of the devil.  Anything that is “of the devil” is NOT ok.  Still, we don’t think that way… we don’t see the sin for what it truly is and keep on doing it, not concerned with what it may be doing to ourselves or to those around us.

What is it doing to your TESTIMONY?

I have an unspoken prayer request for someone I know who needs God’s strength to overcome sin.  We all need that.  We all need to pray for each other.  We need GOD’s strength to get satan off our back and to pull away from all the sins that plague us.

Prayer is power!  We are blessed with this power in the present world …helping us prepare for the world of reward promised to us by the blood of JESUS!

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

VBS has been great this week with kiddos learning all about Jesus!  The theme this year is about asking questions and finding the evidence that JESUS IS REAL!  I was a little crazy about the theme at first, but once I got to really reading the curriculum and not just freaking out about the decorations I was going to create, I loved it!  It gets the students to thinking.  Those questions and investigations got some high-level thinking going on.  VBS is all about the ABC’S (admit, believe, confess), but in this curriculum the 3 D’s are used: DISCOVER, DECIDE, DEFEND.  I like this concept–Discover all the evidence, Decide for yourself and then get ready to tell others about Jesus by equipping yourself with all that evidence.  How awesome!

Everyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE JESUS.  I’ve had a few people challenge me here lately about that…and not with questions.  They are challenging me with their opinions and their views.  They somehow want me to debate with them about my God who they don’t even believe in.

Our Bible verse for this VBS is ALWAYS BE READY TO TELL OTHERS WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT JESUS. -1 Peter 3:15  This is the younger students’ version.  Here’s the New Living Translation: Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.

I have this hope that only comes from my God.  I have this peace that only He can give me.  I can’t tackle life’s circumstances without HIS strength.  I don’t see how some people do?    Well, I know a lot of people don’t.  They escape by using drugs or getting drunk or doing things they think is “the answer” to all their problems. I tried for years doing stuff that I thought would be the answer to my happiness.  Why do we do that?  Why do people try to do this thing called life on their own?!?  Then when it doesn’t turn out like they think it should, they curse a god, my GOD even, whom they don’t even believe in like it’s His fault they are like they are.  Oh my…this goes back to taking responsibility for what YOU DO…not blaming something or someone else for your choices.  Ug!  They even blame God for all the bad in this world.  Why did God allow Hitler to kill all of those people?  *sigh*  It goes back to FREE WILL CHOICE…we all have choice.  Hitler CHOSE to do all those things he thought was “the answer” to all his problems.  He didn’t have GOD.  He didn’t ask God for help or use God to kill people.  People are so confused about who God is, but they still attack those who believe in God by asking such questions or throwing out all kinds of reasons why we shouldn’t believe in God.  If you don’t believe, don’t believe, but don’t condemn me for not believing!  I actually LOL at that!  They are condemning me?!?  HAHAHAHA!

WELL, I’m READY!  I’m ready to tell others about the Lord.  I’m not going to beat them with a Bible or judge them by telling them they are going to hell. (they already know that really) I’m not even going to attack them by getting all radical and crazy about what they believe in.  I’m not going to get red in the face when they tell me my God ALLOWED Hitler to do those things or allows bad in this world.  You know what I’m going to do!?  I’m going to SMILE.  I’m going to show them the attitude I have because God allows me to do all things through HE who strengthens me.  I’m going to love them.  I’m going to show them that I can love them no matter what they believe in.  Sure, they can hate me, they can cuss me, tell me MY GOD ain’t real, but I’m going to simply LOVE them.  We were not put in this world to hate.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!  Yes, I used ain’t twice today! and yes, I use that last statement a lot, but IT’S TRUE…don’t waste your time!  LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Believe what you want to believe.  That is your choice.  As for me, and my house…WE WILL BELIEVE IN THE LORD!

My post today on facebook:

You ALWAYS have your choice to believe what you believe. For me and my house, we will believe in, on and through The Lord. My God is real. There’s no need for debate.
I love you no matter what you believe in.
Why constantly talk about and put down a GOD you don’t believe in? ((Rhetorical Q, please do not answer.))

Have an awesome day people!

This is for yesterday and today.
I actually got on to post last night and got so sleepy I didn’t!   A body needs rest from time to time!

This week has been so busy with so many things.  No need to list it all.  I’d just be babbling–but hey, when am I not!?!

So, I won’t babble about that today, but some other stuff that has come into my head lately.

Earlier in the week, my early morning Bible reading was about the woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and wiped them clean with her hair.  What a honor she had in doing this!

Most people would cringe at the thought of touching others’ feet.  I know one of my friends who gets sick just looking at feet.  You have to admit, feet aren’t the best looking parts on our bodies most of the time.  They are the most used pair of things on our body at times though.  They get tired.  They get worn.  They get dirty …and crusty.  Some sweat, some stink.  Ew.

BUT SERIOUSLY, Jesus…  This woman got to touch GOD!  I think about the woman in the Bible who just touched a small part of his robe and was healed.  How do you think this woman who took time to make Jesus feel comfortable and loved felt after being able to do such a deed?  She was “a woman of ill-repute” as some translations say.  However the translation uses words to describe her, she was not a woman that was thought to be good company to someone who was Godly–she was a ….sinner.  She was a disgusting sinner to most of those in the room, but to Jesus, she was FORGIVEN.  She was redeemed.  She would be in Heaven with Him one day!  She knew she needed to be forgive and humbled herself before the savior to not only show her knowledge of needing Him, but to somehow try and repay Him for His gift–maybe? (even though I know there’s no way we can repay what He did on the cross!) I’m not sure of her mindset, but I do know that what she did was sincere and amazing.  Jesus said…

Luke 7:48  Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

He knew she believed in Him.

I’m a horrible sinner!  I have done things that are not of God.  I have worked for the evil one.  I do things daily that I should not do.  I want to move away from such things and closer to GOD.  I want to touch God!  I want to wash Jesus’ feet!  I want to hear Jesus say the words He said to this woman who did this great thing for Jesus.  I believe!

We all have our demons…

What demons are you battling this week?  this month?  this year?  this life?

We all have our demons.  We have those things that get to us.  We have that sin we hold on to.  We have that struggle we just can’t ever seem to overcome.  We all have SOMETHING.

I know a young woman who is absolutely beautiful.  She is tall, just the right size, big beautiful eyes, and a list of other physical attributes that would definitely have anyone judging this book by it’s cover as a classic read.  She has it all, right!?  NOT.  When you look a little deeper, you see a frown.  You experience a horrible attitude.  You are subjected to a foul disposition and an ugliness that makes you feel like you might be looking at the dark one himself.  It truly is a classic case of beauty being only skin deep.  God made this young woman.  He made her beautiful.  He made her intelligent.  By the way she is clothed and carries herself, she doesn’t seem to want for anything.  Apparently, though, she wants more of something.  But what?  Who knows.  Only she would be able to tell you this IF she feels as if you need to know which probably won’t happen.  It’s sad to see.  Why someone can be put together so perfect physically yet lack all the heart.  She is battling some kind of demon.  Perhaps it is her home life, friend status or the horrible self-esteem issues which may compound from the former two.  Again, who knows, but she is in a battle.  The world does not see her battle.  The world sees her beauty and counts her as OK.

BUT GOD…WHAT DOES GOD SEE? What would Jesus say to her?  Would he remind her of her beauty and help equip her with the tools she needs to fight the demons?  I believe this would definitely be the case.  Due to God’s immeasurable love for us, He sent Jesus to cover all of our sins, take away our fears and shortcomings  and create a new person in us–washing away all the old!

How does this young lady (or how do we) get to the point where we can fight our demons and WIN?

Also in the story below, the disciples want to know why they couldn’t help the young boy get rid of his demon and JESUS says, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Read the entire story:

Mark 9:14-29

New King James Version (NKJV)  from

A Boy Is Healed

14 And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them. 15 Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running toHim, greeted Him. 16 And He asked the scribes, “What are you discussing with them?”

17 Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit.18 And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”

19 He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” 20 Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.

21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”

And he said, “From childhood. 22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it:“Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spiritcried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.

28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”

29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

We must do this in order to keep our faith.  I believe that sometimes we come to a point where our walk with God becomes routine.  We say the same prayers.  We throw the same stuff at God.  We don’t take time to listen to him.  We don’t pray and fast.  (Definition: To fast is to do without food.  Its purpose is to experience the effects of not eating.  It also serves to be a penance or a sacrifice – for the purpose of strengthening us.)  We especially do not do this in America where food is something we tend to worship and is most always taking the place of GOD.  We need to push away the things that hinder us from a true relationship with God even if it is our dinner plate.  As Jesus said, this, along with prayer, is how we can really get rid of those demons.

I know you may not see your struggle as a demon like the story above, but this is what I took as I listened to this story through the Daily Audio Bible this last week.  I’ve read this story several times since this day and totally believe it has helped me with my “demons.”  THIS KIND CAN COME OUT BY NOTHING BUT PRAYER AND FASTING.

I thank God for His increase.  He shows me Himself more and more as I read and study His word.

If you have stories of how He has shown you something through the scripture, I would love to hear it!  If you don’t want to reply here, email me:

When people ask you how you made it through a situation, created something awesome or how you accomplished some great feat…

Why do they NOT believe you when you answer them with “Prayer.”

God allows me to create great art.  He guides me to do wonderful things.  HE gives me the strength to finish tasks that there is no way in this world I could ever do alone.

Maybe you think you are sooooooo awesome and can do everything on your own, but me, I know GOD is my strength.  HE is the one that makes me awesome.  I cannot be awesome on my own!  He is my POWER.  HE is always there for whatever I need.  He is who provides me with my positive attitude.  He takes care of my family.

It’s not “luck.”  It’s not coincidence.  IT’S GOD!!!

PRAYER is how I constantly converse with my God.  Prayer is how I talk with Him and praise Him privately (or outwardly).  Prayer with my real God comforts me and diminishes my fears.  Prayer is HOW I DO IT.  I am in communication with God who allows me to …

make it through a situation, create something awesome or accomplish some great feat.

I’m serious.  It’s true.  It is PRAYER.

Thank You, Lord, for allowing us to go straight to YOU!

Live like a BELIEVER!

Sharing my sermon notes from this morning. Thank you Bro. Kenneth for speaking what GOD puts on your heart.

Let’s live like a BELIEVER

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you. For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. (Romans 1:8-12 NKJV)

As a Beleiver…
Be thankful (vs 8)
Am I giving thanks for all things
Pray all the time (9)
Don’t worry!
Have a submissive heart (10)
Do what God Has for you to do
What is HIS will …not for your
life –just what is HIS will?
Have a GIVING heart (11)
Encourage!!! It is better to give
than receive.

If someone were to do a spiritual scan on you, what would they see?

What is in your heart?
