#CRUSHcancer 5K

I totally finished that 5K today!!!

SOOO, I was pretty much last, but I did it.  It’s ok that I and one other gal were the only two on the track.  The rest of the group went the city course, but really, I didn’t want to hold up any traffic with my mad walking skills or awesome legs.  haha!

All kidding aside, we had an awesome event which made some nice change for the Texas Oncology Foundation.

Here’s a pic of most of the group…

I loved doing this and am ready to tackle on another.  Well, I’m not ready to be the main organizer of one yet…I’ll wait another year for that, but I’m ready to go walk one again.  It was a lot of fun!

My whole family participated in it as well.  This is how my 10 year old felt in the end…

My Morning Walk

This is a pic I took on my walk this morning. The weather has been absolutely amazing today! I love this picture, because it is so green and bright. Thank You God for giving me this gift.

Are you a BUSYBODY!?

<—Remember this famous TV “busybody?”

Lazy!?!?  Are you lazy?  Of course you are saying NO, but really, let’s do an inventory.

Do you wake up tired?  Haha!  That’s not a valid question.  MOST people wake up like that.  You still have sleepy in your eye and you are stumbling to the bathroom, right?  Let’s start again.

Do you find yourself sitting in front of the television the minute you get home or soon after?

Do you look at the laundry and wish there was a fairy laundry mother?  (ok, we all do that!)

Do you find ways to get other people to do things for you that you should really do yourself?

Is your yard overgrown, the dust bunnies in your house having a war under your couch or your car piled up with junk you can’t even identify anymore?

THESE might be signs of laziness.  I could go on, but why?  I’m sure you get my point.

Today, while listening to the Daily Audio Bible (DAB app!  Get it!), the Proverbs said something about laziness and I thought WOW, God warns us about everything –EVEN LAZINESS!!!  We’ve all heard about idle hands, right?  Seriously, look:

I passed by the field of a sluggard ((lazy, sluggish person)), by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction.  A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man. Proverbs 24:30-34 (ESV)

There are some consequences of being lazy.  That makes you think!  There are so many other consequences too. Being lazy and inactive makes you SLOW.  It makes your muscles inactive and then comes the aches and pains.  If you keep moving and stimulating your body, yes, exercising–you help keep up what GOD gave you.  He didn’t mean for us to be idle.  He wants us to be A GOOD BUSYBODY, not like the busybody mentioned below.  So, get up, get movin!

As I mentioned before, you know what they say about idle hands?!  They are the devil’s workshop, playhouse or tool.  I’ve seen several different versions of the quote.  What does it mean?  If your hands are idle, your brain probably is too.  If you don’t have a purpose, a drive, a GOAL, then it’s so easy for the devil to use you.  EW.  No thanks.

Here’s what it says in the Bible too …

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”  We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.  If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed.  Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.  2Thessalonians 3:10-15  NIV

I love the Bible!  Right there–It says if you are lazy, you should not be associated with.  That’s sad.  What a lonely life.  And you are a “busybody!?”  This is such a negative thing to be referred to!  The definition of busybody:  a person who meddles or pries into the affairs of others.  EEEEK!  No thanks, yet again.   It also says others should warn you about your laziness.  It’s our job as fellow Christians to help those around us who are lazy by warning them.  So, am I calling YOU out?  I’m not sure.  Am I?

By the way, if you didn’t know, that busybody up at the top was Mrs. Kravitz on the BEWITCHED television show that ran from 1964 through 1972.

SPARK up a Conversation!

SPARK!!!  Spark it up!  I know my title is not the correct’s “STRIKE up a conversation”, right?  Well, today, I was just thinking about another thing I start my day off (to COMBAT grumpiness) with besides listening to THE BIBLE and getting my walk on.   After I put on my nikes and other apparel, I go straight to the frig to retrieve my SPARK.  It kind of reminds me of the sparkler in the pic–it gets ya fired up.  Of course, I’m already fired up because I know GOD IS ABOUT TO SPEAK TO ME THROUGH HIS WORD!!!  And I’m happy that my body is about to get in motion, but with SPARK, it seems like my eyes are a little more open, my step, a little more peppy and my mind joyfully celebrates in what God wants me to hear that morning.  It’s really QUITE exciting!  Do I even have a second to think about being grumpy about the day ahead??  NO!  The great combo of these items set the POSITIVE tone for the day which the Lord has made JUST FOR ME.   It’s such a great feeling to know that my God wants me to feel like this all the time. I feed on His word.  I know He wants my body to get happy in what He has in store for me.  Spark is just an added feature of what He has provided.

If you have those mornings where you are having to drag yourself out of bed and your GRUMPINESS level has already started to rise as your feet hit the ground, maybe you need to SPARK IT UP!   FIRST, I suggest you grab your Bible or download the Daily Audio Bible App.  Pour THE WORD into yourself somehow.  Second, get that body of yours moving.  Think about 6th grade PE class when you had to do jumping jacks to warm up.  Do some jumping jacks and move on to some knee lifts, belly crunches and/or air punches.  Get going!  And lastly, try some SPARK!  Wanna know what it’s all about?  Check out my website– HERECheck out it’s positiveness.  It’s a great alternative to a cup of morning joe or unhealthy energy drink.  Ya don’t have to take my word for it alone, check out Drew below.  He likes it too!

SPARK up a Conversation, first with God, then get movin’ and Spark it up!
