Without Him

Do you ever feel things just aren’t right?

You ask yourself, “What am I doing wrong?”

Maybe you go through your day thinking you are forgetting something?

Perhaps nothing is going the way you expected it to?

I think we all have those moments.  This life throws so many crazy things at us like a monkey at the zoo!  (you know what they throw)  We wake up with aches and pains we didn’t have a few days ago.  Our loved ones pass away.  We have devastating news or circumstances.  We just feel blah today.  How do we do it?

I just got on my knees and prayed for two separate families who have lost such a vital part of their family structure this week.  I know they feel like the air has been sucked right out of their lungs.  They are in such pain, it truly is heartbreaking for everyone who knows them even just a little bit.

On my knees, I thanked God for the awesome things that will come out of these tragedies.  I heard those words come out of my mouth and then found myself surprised at it.  What did I just say?  Then into my brain came….Awesome things can come out of pain when eyes turn to Jesus. There was the answer.  JESUS is the answer!

Then I also asked God to show them Him in all of this, because they can’t do it RIGHT without Him.  Nothing can be done RIGHT without him.  You can think it’s all good and be satisfied, but you are missing out on the endless possibilities that are available when you do not lean on your own understanding, but fully put your trust in HIM.  Let me repeat this, NOTHING can be done RIGHT without HIM.

God just showed me things in my prayer that I needed to remember.  I need to keep remembering and I pray that these two families can as well especially right now.  That is what I’m praying for the most.

GOD is Awesome.  There is nothing impossible when He is in the mix.

Do you feel like things just aren’t right?

Wonder what you are doing wrong?

Forgetting something?

Life just not turning out the way you expected it?

Are you WITHOUT HIM?

Please let Elvis explain it in his rendition of WITHOUT HIM:

Saw this pic on facebook this morning.  It made me recall a couple of things I’ve had to deal with in my profession this year with students and have witnessed with colleagues in the past as well.

Our students–of all ages–don’t understand the accessibility they are exposed to…they constantly assume it’s no big deal.

Social media is just that–SOCIAL –almost just like face to face, but THE DIFFERENCE IS today’s social (media) gives us this since of false protection, because we THINK we won’t have to suffer instant repercussions from WHATEVER we are posting.  It’s almost like we think no one will see it OR only the people we really want to see it will be the only viewers.

This is true for any postings –a simple selfie, a rant about our government, a picture telling someone they are number one with your middle finger instead of the index finger which really means something mean and vulgar AND THE LIST GOES ON…

It’s all accessible to anyone and EVERYone–NOT our selected few.  We forget this somehow.  We forget that what we type, what we take a picture of, what we post—is actually REAL.  It’s whatever we did prior to social media, but out there for an audience of a billion times more than it was before.

Looking at the picture above, I thought about us all…

THEN shared the picture and posted the words below along with it:

It’s not just 6th grade–It’s all ages. We are becoming so open to anything and everything that nothing is considered vulgar, kept sacred or left to our imagination. *sigh*

The end.

SOMETIMES I FORGET!

Sometimes I forget all of the things I am blessed to be able to do.  God gives me the ability to do so many things.

I GET to make the bed, sweep and mop the floor AND do the dishes.  I GET to vacuum, scrub the shower and toilet AND dust.  (I detest dusting…so very much…but still I’m blessed that I CAN DO IT. SOMETIMES I forget.)

I GET to bleach the sinks and wipe toothpaste off the basins.  I GET to pick up shoes, clothes, basketballs, toys of various sorts up from the floor.  i GET to sweep out the garage and take the recycling to the dumpster.

I GET TO DO ALL THOSE THINGS!  I am so blessed!!!  …but…SOMETIMES I FORGET. *sad face here*

You may think I’m being a total sarcastic idiot right now AND IF YOU KNOW ME, you know sarcasm is one of my favorite tones at times.  It’s another gift God gives me, I think.  BUT HERE, I PROMISE YOU, I’M NOT BEING SARCASTIC.

Although everything that I’m listing isn’t the absolute funnest things to do and do get a little overwhelming at times due to the consistency that I have to do them….

I AM TRULY THANKING GOD FOR THEM…I thank Him that I am able to do them.  Sometimes I FORGET that it is a blessing.  It is a blessing to have a house to clean, to have a messy family to pick up after and to chase dust bunnies who seem to truly be ALIVE in my house at times.  They are all blessings.  …but…(whispering) sometimes, I …forget. 😦

SOMETIMES I FORGET!  Sometimes I hate that I have to do them.  Sometimes I feel stressed out, because I have to do them.  SOMETIMES I wish I could just snap my fingers and some kind of little crew would come in over night –like apparently the Elf on the Shelf does –and instead of reeking havoc as he does, they clean my whole house spotless.  AND WHILE THEY ARE AT IT, they can make lunches for the next day and create home made dinners I could just pop out of the freezer and warm up.  SOMETIMES I forget that being able to do all the things I do…IS A BLESSING.

I could be sick, depressed or even dying.  I could be disabled and not physically able to do these things.  I truly am blessed.

but…

SOMETIMES I FORGET!

God allows me to be able to do all I do.

…and I’m sorry, Lord, that sometimes, I forget.
