“Haters always gonna hate.”  I actually said this today!  I know this is one of those sayings which has been overused and perhaps meant in many different ways, BUT TO ME…It means, no matter what you do, how you do it, who it benefits or how much good it may bring to others…THERE IS ALWAYS those who hate you for it.  They will talk about you, try and persuade others to think badly of you and just plain hate you.  It’s part of life.  There is no reason to dwell on the haters.  It does no good to give them any of your time.

You may not see it, but sometimes their gripes and groans stir up more good than they ever thought it would or let alone wanted it to do.  THAT PART is the best part.  They end up shining a light on THE GOOD that was done!  HEE HEE!

Haters gonna hate, but loving is the best of all.  Do what you do, in love—

THAT’S ALL YOU GOTTA DO!  Whether someone approves of it or not–makes absolutely no difference.

YAY!

The GOOD, the bad and the uuuuuggggly…

WARNING: SOAP BOX TIME!

We are who we are because we choose to be.  NO MATTER WHAT… You CHOOSE to be the way you are–it is ALL UP TO YOU.

We start our lives like a blank slate.  We arrive ready to be influenced, molded and shaped.  Then, things happen to us.  We are well taken care of, or not.  We are surrounded with good friends or bad ones or maybe mediocre ones.  We have great parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts or we don’t really.  Some of us have circumstances in our lives that are just crazy, chaotic and evil.  We have people that abuse us and put us down.  We have people who use us or leave us out on purpose.  These things happen.  I am acknowledging it all.  I could make lists upon lists of things that happen to us–good, bad and ugly.

We all have  influences, circumstances, people and times.  We all have these good, bad and ugly times.  A lot of times, though,  we look at others’ lives and think they have it great and we don’t, but really, we don’t know their life.  We don’t know what happens in their homes and we don’t know what happens in their minds.  We don’t know their hearts.  We are only responsible for our own hearts.  We are not put here to compare ourselves to others.  We own our story, not others’.

Back to my point—the person you are, no matter what has happened to you in your life, is ALL UP TO YOU.

Don’t blame others for having a better life.  Don’t hurt those around you just because others have hurt you.   It’s important that we don’t get beat down by playing the victim in our lives.  I know we all have different stories and we have all been “victims” of something, but to stay labeled as a victim only allows whoever or whatever victimized us to continue to win daily.

EXAMPLE: If I were to CHOOSE to be an alcoholic–that would not be because my dad was an alcoholic.  I would CHOOSE that lifestyle.  I could not blame that on an alcoholic father or even some type of hereditary gene which says I’m more likely to be an alcoholic.  Everyone has something they may be more likely to be, BUT WHEN IT COMES RIGHT DOWN TO IT–IT IS YOUR CHOICE.

People use excuses all the time.  The media gives people excuses all the time.  Sometimes (and I’m not saying all the time, because I know there are certain situations that would be exceptions–but I believe they are very rare) people use excuses because they are too lazy to stand up and blame themselves.   They are too unwilling to get up and choose what is right.   They are so lacking of inner motivation that they blame it on someone else like their parents or even the government.  Geez.

We all (yes, EVERY ONE OF US) need to stop being- idle – indolent – sluggish – slothful – slack – AND step up and take responsibility for: who we are, where we are and what we have become.  I believe that once that happens, our lives, our society and our world will be a better place to live.

Once we have done that, we can be in a better position to help those around us.  It starts with YOU–yes YOU. (and me, of course) Allow the good, the bad AND the ugly to mold you, influence you and shape you into A RESPONSIBLE, A MORE ACCOUNTABLE AND UPSTANDING YOU.  (not a continuous blaming victim who can’t look past anything that has ever happened…come on—move on!!!)

TOMORROW’S POSSIBLE BLOG TOPIC: Influences and circumstances–they CAN be positive NO MATTER what they are…

Good things…

OLD

OLD

A thought on age…

Let me recap my week.

Monday, I was still down and out with the snot monster. As my previous blog about snot described, it was funky.

Tuesday, I woke at the usual time, but had to limp to the bathroom. Once there, I realized my hip was hurting so bad I couldn’t do any stretch or movement that would ease it. After an enormously hot shower, some ibuprofen and time, I was able to maneuver through the day with a barely-noticeable limp.

Wednesday was the day I saw a light at the end of the snot blob tunnel. I was actually feeling better.

Thursday seemed somewhat normal if a cheer try-out day for your daughter can be “normal.” (BTW: She made it!)

Today, the ever glorious Friday who everyone I know pretty much covets, I was greeted with a headache–actually from about three this morning. As the day progressed, it became worse. After lunch, I finally decided with some help from great co-workers that I should go home. I did! Something I never really do. I usually tough it out and suffer until bed time and then take migraine meds and pray it is gone by morning. I don’t get these kind of headaches often–maybe every three months or so. I did come home, take the meds and I am now headache free!

ANYWAY! I do have a point to all this and here it comes…

I’M OLD! I knew this day would come where I declare this without joking about it. I’m not talking OLD like I think I’m about to kick over or something. I just realize that my body doesn’t fight off snot like it use to, my hip feels like a small child slept on it all night in the morning when maybe I don’t sleep in most ideal position and a headache can now kick my bohonkus! I’m sure there are other things that have slowed down, become harder to do or perhaps even been marked off my list of fun things to do. I won’t go into all of those, but just for example, I’m passed the thought of thinking I might ever put skates or skis on my feet for recreation. That would just be asking for a broken something and AT MY AGE, who knows how long a broken bone would take to heal!

I know that people say you are only as old as you think you are…I know what that means. It’s all about how you look at it! That is like my mantra! Seriously though, sometimes you just have to know your limits. You have to be aware that you aren’t as young as you used to be (haha..no one is!). Does this mean I’m less of a person? NO. Does this mean I should think less of myself? Be depressed about life? OR long for the “good ole days?” NO. This means I thank GOD for allowing me to continue to be the OLDER me. Such is life. I am part of this great big scheme of things that God is in control of. I will be realistic about what I can’t do or what my body takes a little longer to do these days–WITH JOY…with happiness and even though I’m trying to be serious here –I will look at it with humor. I believe God has a great sense of humor! I thank Him for allowing me to be realistic while still looking at the HUMOR in life. It’s important to do that no matter what–IT’S ALL ABOUT HOW YOU LOOK AT IT!

a BIG thank you!

THANK YOUIt’s so important to say THANK YOU!  I know I’ve written on this before.  That just means I think it’s REALLY important.  I like to show my appreciation.  It’s something that we should all take pleasure in.   We know people who don’t enjoy it and more times than not their faces are adorned with frowns and their disposition is much less than desirable.  Anyway!  I digress.  APPRECIATION–it’s important.

I want to THANK YOU for reading my blog.  I want to THANK YOU for following my blog.  Yesterday, my follower number hit 100!  I’m so thankful to all of you who have taken that small step and decided to follow this crazy bloggity blog of mine.  Thank you, I appreciate it!  I hope I can continue each day by helping ya think, reflect and perhaps inspire you a little bit.

Would like to leave you with some thank you quotes:

Saying thank you is more than good manners.  It is good spirituality.  ~Alfred Painter

I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.  ~G.K. Chesterton

The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.  ~Oscar Wilde

It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.  ~Author Unknown

THANK YOU!  -Rita 🙂

GOOD-LOOKIN’ and PRAY

With all the crazy, insane and totally demented things going on in this world like those innocent sweet ones being killed for no reason at all in Connecticut–we have to start lookin’ for the good.  It’s so hard to see it when things like this happen.  We really must do two things–#1 LOOK TO THE GOOD and #2 PRAY!!!   Look for the things here in this world that are good.  Gravitate toward the righteous.  Move into the light.  Look around and find the things that the Lord wants you to be part of.  Always expect HIM to move you.  PRAY for those who need comfort and strength.  PRAY for the ones affected by tragedies such as I mentioned above.  PRAY for a revival in this world.   As prayer warriors, we need to be even more diligent than ever before!

Start the GOOD-LOOKIN’ when you open your eyes in the morning.  How better to do this by beginning your day with prayer.  Pray in thanksgiving for your life and ask God for the blessings you would like to receive.  He will provide–He will PROVIDE!   READ IT: Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.  Matthew 7:7-8 NLT

Good Deeds

20121003-205826.jpg

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6: 2-4

Good deeds! Some strive to do these daily. It’s great to serve others and help someone. It makes you feel good. But is that all it does? What are your motives? Do you do it with love?
Some do it specifically for the kudos, the pats on the back or how it makes them look to others. These are not the rewards we should be pleased with. God has many rewards in store for us IF WE HONOR HIM IN ALL THINGS. We should not do good deeds so the light can shine on us, but on GOD. Do it with Love. God is love. Make a difference by doing good deeds, no matter what they are, in love. Without love, your action is truly void.

Amen. The end.
