I thank YOU

We got to see the Kingdom Heirs last week at Dollywood.  They were seriously my favorite.  Here is the song I absolutely fell in love.  It perfectly lists things I’m so thankful for!

For the times YOU kept me safe and sound…

For drying my tears…

Keeping me steady…

For peace like a river…

setting me free…

supplying my need…

I thank YOU

Do you think you are TOO old or TOO far gone to be SAVED BY JESUS?  Do you think there’s no way you could do anything good or even if you tried, you might not like it?   Maybe your excuse has to do with how you grew up or where you lived.   Perhaps you blame others for not encouraging you or teaching you.

This is what was put on my heart today when I read/heard the parable below.  You may want to read it first.  So, here it is:

((This is JESUS talking, of course))

The Parable of the Vineyard Workers

Matthew 20: 1-16

“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 After agreeing with the workers on one denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 When he went out about nine in the morning,[a] he saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 To those men he said, ‘You also go to my vineyard, and I’ll give you whatever is right.’ So off they went. 5 About noon and at three,[b] he went out again and did the same thing.6 Then about five[c] he went and found others standing around,[d] and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day doing nothing?’

7 “‘Because no one hired us,’ they said to him.

“‘You also go to my vineyard,’ he told them.  When evening came, the owner of the vineyard told his foreman, ‘Call the workers and give them their pay, starting with the last and ending with the first.’

“When those who were hired about five came, they each received one denarius. So when the first ones came, they assumed they would get more, but they also received a denarius each.  When they received it, they began to complain to the landowner:  ‘These last men put in one hour, and you made them equal to us who bore the burden of the day and the burning heat!’

“He replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I’m doing you no wrong. Didn’t you agree with me on a denarius? Take what’s yours and go. I want to give this last man the same as I gave you. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my business? Are you jealous because I’m generous?’

“So the last will be first, and the first last.”

After hearing this in the DAILY AUDIO BIBLE reading this morning, I thought about how awesome it is that God doesn’t distinguish between young or old Christians.  He has plans for us no matter what our age.  AND WE ALL GET HIS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, AMAZING GRACE AND WONDERFUL PEACE.

AND GUESS WHAT—If you are lost and don’t know Jesus, GOD STILL HAS PLANS FOR YOU!  Please don’t keep denying His love.  The sooner you do it, the sooner you can benefit from His gift.

You may be like those workers who were hired later in the day (later in life –you come to know Jesus as your personal savior), but no matter–YOU ARE STILL A VESSEL GOD CAN USE–no matter what your age, what your past, what family you came from, house you live in or any other circumstance you have.

I’ve heard and read this parable before and even used it in a lesson before in Sunday School Class, but I haven’t had this speak to me this loud before.  So many people give the excuse of not coming to church by saying church is not for them or there are too many hypocrites in church.  That last one makes me giggle, because there are hypocrites EV ER Y WHERE… church is actually the best place for them to go.  Church can help you learn to be less hypocritical.  Duhh.  Anyway, there is no REAL valid excuse as to why you shouldn’t believe in Jesus.  Life is so much better with Him.  Life is still crazy, but with JESUS, the crazy doesn’t seem hard to bare.  HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?

The parable: NO MATTER WHAT YOUR EXCUSE is on why you can’t serve Jesus—get rid of it!

You can receive HIS grace because he paid it all…and you get the benefits.

Thank You Jesus!

Awesome people are so awesome! They are happy and smiley and NICE. Nice is so important. Is it really hard to be nice? I mean, I know we all have those days where we are just tired and worn out, but is a SMILE so hard to muster? I think NOT! You can always smile –at the very least. Just think of a happy thought and BAM–THERE COMES A SMILE! Simple, right?

I had the opportunity to come in contact with A TON of people this last week. From the airport, to the resort and on to the many different locations we ended up going, PEOPLE WERE EVERYWHERE! Literally, no where I looked was there an empty space which did not contain another human, well, besides the bathroom stall, I guess. SOOO MANY PEOPLE! And I’m gonna let ya know—some were not so nice or happy or even the least bit content with their current situation. I prayed for one in particular that had what seemed to be a permanent scowl on his face. I admit, I do not know what was going on in his life and totally uncertain of the reason for his discontent, but I did and do know prayer can’t hurt it! So, there, in the airport, I prayed for this man. I prayed that something would make him happy. I am sure God did something for him. Who knows if he recognized it as such, but I know it happened, because my GOD is a mighty God and He makes things happen!

God especially makes AWESOME PEOPLE AWESOME…He put in our path so many people who were glad to help us and guide us and make us feel comfortable. He sent nice people who weren’t afraid to share their space or moment in life with us. Brief moments of pleasant conversation or even just a smiley face sprinkled our trip. I caught myself thanking God many times for those moments.

I even verbally thanked a few of our new brief moment friends for being so nice. One man even said, “Oh, I try my best to do just that.” How AWESOME?!?!! That right there is the AWESOMENESS I’m talking about.

We should all do our best to be awesome. It really isn’t a huge task. We just have to remember to keep things in perspective. An attitude of gratitude is important, and most of all, with the grace and the salvation we receive from GOD, being awesome isn’t hard at all! Don’t just think of a happy thought to make yourself smile like I said above, think BIGGER—> ALWAYS keep in mind —He allows us a daily DO-OVER (wipe away the past), the gift of every day (right down to the air we breathe), salvation from anything that has ever held us down (AMEN!) and the constant knowing that He has us in the palm of His hand (CUZ ONLY HE IS IN CONTROL). If we can only do this, life isn’t hard to keep in perspective and we can find it easy to be AWESOME.

Below, I’m sharing the front of a thank you card we received in the mail this week. It made me smile HUGE and reminded me that we should all thank those who have that AWESOMENESS more often, but most of all, thank GOD for putting them right where you need them.

What are YOU a woman of? (guys can read this too!)

Why are there so many women who are MEAN? I know it has something to do with our “feelings.” We have SO MANY of those! Men don’t. I mean, they do really, but they don’t go around wearing them like a pair of underwear on the outside of their clothes like we do.

You look at a woman, and if she is unhappy, you will see exactly what she is feeling. Body language is very apparent when they are upset or mad or sad. It’s not very often that you see women just HAPPY. Even when they are happy, their body language, facial expression and demeanor just don’t ooze it like it does when they are unhappy. WHY IS THAT!? I’m serious. I’m confused. POST A COMMENT if you have some insight!

I seek happy people out. I do it in the grocery store! Today, I actually found a few including my cashier. I thank God for a happy cashier. I pray for it as I enter the store after I just got the greatest parking space, because I prayed for it too! So as for my cashier, I told her thank you after givng my receipt, AND then I thanked her for being happy. She most certainly thought I was a little crazy, but hey, join the club on that one. I so enjoy seeing a joyful person!

So, here’s my main point today–IF WE, AS WOMEN, COLLECTIVELY, call ourselves “Women of Faith,” how can we be so mean? How can we be so sad? How can we be the “b” word? Now, if you don’t believe in Jesus and are not a “Woman of Faith,” then hey, I guess you have an excuse. In fact, you have a HUGE excuse. Is it a good excuse? Are any really? Totally not a good excuse. It means you don’t have Jesus in your heart. It means you don’t have THE SAVIOR who through His blood washed us of our sins WHEN you believe in Him. If I were without Jesus, I undoubtedly would be grumpy. I would be absolutely in a funk. Jesus is my hope, my grace, MY JOY!

I have been asked “Why are you so happy?” In fact, many have asked me in a funky grumpy voice and have sometimes used explicitives that I will not repeat. It upsets others that I look on the bright side of things. That only makes me laugh and gives me even more fuel to continue to do so. I tell them it’s Jesus which is usually not what they want to hear. Perhaps they want me to tell them it’s a pill or some kind of quick fix they can do? I’m not sure. Another confusing part of life. Anyway!

Getting back to the main point…IF YOU ARE A WOMAN OF FAITH and you truly have Jesus in your heart, you should be the happiest person in your circle. You should reflect the savior so much that others see the light. They wonder what you have or maybe even it will make them think WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING!?! Haha!

Think about it and ask yourself: “What am I a woman of?” I bet if you can’t answer it yourself, someone around you right now can! Do you want to ask them?
