Jesus loves you and so do I!

LOVE Conquers All!

One of my sweet friends is getting married today.  I’m so happy and excited for her!

I think back to my wedding day.  It was an exciting yet INSANELY STRESSFUL day!  I remember commenting to someone that I didn’t want to do that again…ha!  DUH!  I wanted that to be my only wedding day.  I wanted it to be the day when forever with my man began.  Really, I started that thinking about my husband when we were in 8th grade–he had no idea…and NO, I didn’t stalk him—I just knew I wanted to marry him…what 8th grade minds do!  Crazy.  Haha!

Back to THE day…it went great.  At least, I thought it did.  I had no idea who got upset with each other or got their feelings hurt because of this or that.  It wasn’t about them anyway, it was about me, Bobby and our FOREVER.  People say that is supposed to be the best day of your life!  I do admit it was pretty spectacular.  All the hype that went into the before, during and a bit after was some super happy times.

The let down of life becoming routine and a bit boring after it got me a little.   As a young gal, I thought it would be happily ever after (that means FOREVER, right?)  like the books say.  I am not bashing the books (and movies) that say that, I like those stories!  I’m just saying, in reality, it’s not ALWAYS happy.  Life slaps ya around a bit.  The “happiest day of your life” which was the mountain you were singing on (…the hills are alive…) becomes, at times, valleys of horror.  Fights over disagreements that are ridiculous, jealousy and money issues…family disagreements, friends who don’t approve and work that gets in the way.  Those low times aren’t really talked about when you are planning that BEST DAY.  I mean, your family and older married friends try and tell you, but you don’t listen, because, well, you loooooooooooove him and nothing will get in the way of that!  HA!

Things try…they do…they weasel their way in and try and wedge a space between you and your spouse.  So many times, it works. People sever their marriage ties and move on.  I know everyone has their story, their circumstances and their reasons on why it didn’t work.  I’m not condemning anyone.   I just know that sometimes those silly disagreements, money issues and other crazy things get blown up so big that the love we have for each other is just shivering in the shadow of it all.   ALL COUPLES have those times.  I’ve wanted to pack my bags and enter witness protection before for something I thought was beyond repair!  Not bashing my husband at all here—they were MY MISTAKES, not his.  Either way the fault points, both people have to pull each other up and commit to what they started.  Re-committing may have to be done over and over, but it’s so important.  We have to make love the main part of our relationship.  Love has to truly conquer all!

Going back to that BEST DAY thing…The best day of my life is when I realized that the LOVE CONQUERING ALL thing could only come when you put GOD first in your marriage.  I didn’t get that.  Sure, we were married in a church, the vows were said and the Bible verses read about doing this in the name of God and in front of God and how no man can separate what God has joined.  I heard all of that, but I didn’t listen.  I didn’t tuck those words in my heart and truly believe them.

Our wedding day was, as I said, a pretty spectacular day, but truly, the best day of my life was when GOD opened my eyes and I could see all the good things that HE gives us and LOVE is the best of all and it really, truly, totally absolutely, without a doubt can CONQUER ALL!  (now, THAT is what I’m singing on that mountaintop!)

BLESSINGS!!!

My heart is full.  I have been blessed the last couple of days with so much joy.

The weekend started off with a night off.  Yep!  I got a night to just do nothing.  I watched cartoons!  In my blog on Friday, I mentioned that I was tired of the news.  So, I turned that mess off–any REALITY TV was banned from my sight.  My girl child had a friend over and it was great hearing them giggle.  I watched GARFIELD until I went to sleep.  That was the start of a great weekend.  Blessings!

Saturday, I woke up to an unbelievably awesome morning.  The sky was blue, the temperature was a bit crisp and chilly, but it was amazing.  I cooked a breakfast dish for the power lifting meet hospitality room and got my child and her bestie up to the event to help out.  Then back home to cook for our company that were in from Kansas to hunt hogs.  I do love to cook especially for a “party” which is exactly what my husband was throwing for these hunters.  He was being a great host–he smoked all kinds of stuff while I worked on the fixins.  While cooking for them, I also cooked a casserole for the lunch hospitality room.  Again, I enjoy cooking.  Blessings!

After going back up to the power lifting meet to deliver the lunch dish and watch a bit, I came back home to visit with Bobby and his hunting visitors.  Then, Mason and I went over to a birthday party for a few minutes.  It’s so great to celebrate birthdays!  The clown that was there was bit creepy and didn’t talk–I think he was a mime instead of a clown.  Anyway, that was funny.

Back home again, I sat out in our shop with the big door open to enjoy the weather and the company.  It’s great to just talk with other people and share stories.  The day was just beautiful.  The day had turned warmer and the sky was amazing.  I love blue skies with big puffy clouds.  It was such a blessing to be taking all that in.  Blessings!

Morgan was now home thanks to our friends dropping her off from the power lifting meet.  She was jumping on the trampoline and Mason was with the other boys from the hunting party shooting b-b guns.  The blessings of the day were pictures of perfection.  God is so good!  Blessings!

I then was honored to go with a great friend of mine to a church she was speaking to for their Valentine’s Banquet.  We laughed pretty much the whole way there, was blessed by so many people once we arrived (and the great food they prepared) and got to reflect and laugh some more on the way home.  A friend is such a blessing!

Once I was back home, I got to watch the hunters clean their hogs–not the top part of the day, but still an ok time.  The temperature had turned cold again , but the fire was going on in the shop –I love to get warm by a fire!  Blessings!

I ended up getting in the house fairly late and didn’t post on here last night due to just exhaustion–FROM ALL THE BLESSINGS!

AND TODAY–Today just created a continuation of a great weekend of blessings.  Sunday school was great.  I love the students I’m so fortunate to teach.  Church service was packed and great.  One of my students sang FARTHER ALONG with me for special music.  I’ve got to work on getting more people to sing up there.  Our congregation is growing–I know there are more people out there that can sing.  I’m excited to see who can and will!

After church, Morgan and I were blessed to eat lunch with a former student of mine that is like my own child.  I’m so proud of who she is and the great stuff she has going on.  I knew she would do great things.  She is one of my many blessings!

The ride home with the sunroof open was super!  The sky was again blue with the huge clouds.   When we got back home, I got in a little nap before going to our church’s Valentine’s banquet.  MORE BLESSINGS!  Our youth group served us and did such a great job.  Food, fellowship and fun—BLESSINGS!

Now, reflecting here over this entire weekend, as I said, I just feel so full.  My heart is happy.  We are blessed!

Finishing this blog now…while my child reads his daily devotional to us.  …BLESSINGS!!!

Learn, love, grow and it’s not all about Winning

20130420-221617.jpg

It’s not all about winning.

Seriously.

If you have a child in any little league sport and you don’t know this, you probably wear yourself out griping about the umpires, cursing the coaches and screaming at all the players (sometimes including your own) to “hussle-up.”

The game is not always just about the win. Sometimes it’s a learning experience. What great person was that who said you learn more from failures? I don’t remember who said it, but whoever it was, they sure have some smartacles.

It’s like life sometimes… We worry so much about getting ahead or “winning” at something and totally miss the real reason we are here. Our purpose is to learn, love and grow. You miss out on so much if you are only concerned with getting to the next level. I know competition is healthy, but is griping, kicking, screaming or gritting your teeth even worth the energy it uses up? Do any of those add minutes to your life, make your heart stronger or your smile bigger? Just like griping at the ump–is it really going to get him to change the call?
Do we still do it sometimes? Yes, because we are just thinking of the win. Well, sometimes, we aren’t thinking at all. We end up making fools out of ourselves for nothing. Anyway…enough little league talk!

Back to why we aren’t supposed to be like a little league “heckler”– we need to remember that learning is important, loving is essential and these two things are what will make us grow into the productive, no drama mamas (or papas), stand-up (not hussle-up) citizens we need to be.

Learn, love, grow and it’s not all about winning.

How’s your heart?

20121202-190043.jpg

As in water face reflects face,
so the heart of man reflects the man.
Prov. 27: 19

How’s your heart? Are you a servant to others? Do you spew hate all around or is your heart full of love for mankind? Your heart is reflected and projected to others. Your actions show your heart.

And we are supposed to love through ACTIONS and truth:

My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. (I John 3:18 NKJV)

This time of the year brings many opportunities for us all to give to, and serve others. To do so should make your heart happy and keep it full of love. I did not say pride–do not become prideful and boast of the things you do for others. Give praise and glory to God, because only through Him are we all able to do the things we do–and when others see you do good things, may HE be praised!

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 NKJV)

So, how’s your heart?

Live like a BELIEVER!

Sharing my sermon notes from this morning. Thank you Bro. Kenneth for speaking what GOD puts on your heart.

Let’s live like a BELIEVER

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you. For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. (Romans 1:8-12 NKJV)

As a Beleiver…
Be thankful (vs 8)
Am I giving thanks for all things
Pray all the time (9)
Don’t worry!
Have a submissive heart (10)
Do what God Has for you to do
What is HIS will …not for your
life –just what is HIS will?
Have a GIVING heart (11)
Encourage!!! It is better to give
than receive.

If someone were to do a spiritual scan on you, what would they see?

What is in your heart?

Good Deeds

20121003-205826.jpg

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6: 2-4

Good deeds! Some strive to do these daily. It’s great to serve others and help someone. It makes you feel good. But is that all it does? What are your motives? Do you do it with love?
Some do it specifically for the kudos, the pats on the back or how it makes them look to others. These are not the rewards we should be pleased with. God has many rewards in store for us IF WE HONOR HIM IN ALL THINGS. We should not do good deeds so the light can shine on us, but on GOD. Do it with Love. God is love. Make a difference by doing good deeds, no matter what they are, in love. Without love, your action is truly void.

Amen. The end.
