YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

You seriously have NO CLUE about the potential one person has.  You don’t know.  YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

You may have a theory or a thought.  You might think you understand what the person is capable of…  You know there are those around you that you may think of as lazy or incapable.  But really…YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

EVERYONE brings something.  EVERYONE has a talent…a strength.  EVERYONE has an ability that they do much better than the people around them.  God put them there for that.

It’s just like Esther.  She was created for a purpose bigger than she could ever imagine.  In the verses below, it says, “for such a time as this,” which always reminds me that TODAY COULD BE THE DAY that God really needs me to stand somewhere, do something or share a word or two to further HIS kingdom.

“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

-Ester 4:14

We have no idea how God is using other people.  Most of the time, we have no idea how He is using us–how could we even begin to know about someone else.  WE HAVE NO IDEA!

Don’t discount others.  Don’t think people as worthless even though their actions may make our opinions point directly to that.  Let’s remember that God put us here with specific talents, abilities and strengths. (for a time such as this)  We need to be mindful of those.  We need to ask God directly what they are occasionally.  Be in tune more with what YOU have to offer and don’t concern yourself with what others SHOULD be doing.  Pray for them.  They may need prayers to help them find their calling.  God will take care of the rest, because remember:

YOU HAVE NO IDEA!

Jimmy Knox

We are all dying. It’s not something we like to chat about.  No one starts out a conversation with a question like, “So, when do you think you will die?”  We just don’t talk about it.  For most, dying is not at the forefront of our brains.

I’m just like anyone else.  I don’t relish the fact that one day I will have to go through some kind of “episode” in order to pass from this world.  I’m not scared of what will come after my last breath is taken here on earth.  I am a bit apprehensive about how that last breath is taken though.  I think it’s safe to say that I’m not alone in that.

Whether we like to talk about it or not, dying is real and inevitable.

AND Some people do not have the luxury of thinking someday or somehow I will die…

Some people know that they are terminally ill.  They know that it will more than likely be sooner than later.  They are looking death square on.  Of course, they can’t choose the exact day or hour, but there’s not much guess work to the fact that it is eminent.

Oh, I know GOD is in control and He can heal them right here on this planet at any second.  I know HE has that power.  I also know we all have a story and some stories end with a terminal disease.  God does heal those too, though, if their heart is right.  He takes them home to be with him where there is no more illness or any kind of pain that accompanies it.   Gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

My brother is terminal.  He told me just a few minutes ago that it is confirmed that he will be going home from the hospital in the next day or so, assigned to hospice.  He has been through so many things in his life.  He has battled diabetes and all the difficulties that come with that.   He was in a horrible car accident about 20 years ago that left one of his arms less able than the other, one leg shorter than the other, not to mention many other struggles that came along with that incident.  He became blind due to complications with diabetes about 10 years ago.  Through all of this, he has lived in the home we grew up in, almost always alone.  He has battled depression and other things that come along with physical pain.  He truly has been a soldier.  He has fought for a long time and continues to do so.  Just within the last year, he found out on top of all he’s already endured, he has cancer.  The word cancer makes me angry.  I’ve seen it do ugly things to so many people.  Now it has my brother.  I hate to question why … but it’s so hard not to.  Cancer seems so dark to me.

We should not take for granted each day God gives us.  None of us know when we will have our last day here.  We don’t know when those around us will spend their last either.

Please pray for my brother and his comfort.  He has been in pain so long.  I know he doesn’t want to leave this world, but he also knows it will happen much sooner than he had expected.    He does know Jesus. As I said earlier, though, not many really want to think about the “episode” it’s going to take in this world to meet Jesus in the next.  Please pray for his peace.

Thank you in advance for praying for Jimmy Knox.

PRAY ANYWAY

How wonderful an honor it is to me when people ask me to pray for them!  The more specific they can get about exactly what to pray for, the more I love to do it.  Not to say I won’t say a general prayer by any means…  I just think praying for someone especially when they ask you to is an awesome power God has given us.  No matter what circumstance, prayer is power.

What about those ones you know need GOD?

These are the ones you know  NEEEEEEED PRAYERS.

You know that they seriously need to leave chaos behind and seek some peace in their life.  You see it by their attitude and their fruit.  Their fruit is rotten, stinky and full of worms.  Ew.  They are flippant and rude to others.  Their attitudes are sour, their disposition down and for the most part, they are just down right mean.

What about THOSE?

They are not asking you to pray.

They couldn’t care less whether you utter their name to God or not.

It’s doubtful they even believe in the ALMIGHTY, SOUL SAVING, ALIVE AND AMAZING GOD!   Whaaaaaaaat?

Get this…THEY MAY EVEN HATE YOU FOR PRAYING FOR THEM!  ***superGASP!***

I admit that praying for these people is harder than the ones who ask earnestly for you to lift them up in prayer.  It’s harder to want peace for these people, because most of the time they have this cloud of negativity surrounding them that harbors and creates the very opposite of peace.  Most of the time, it messes your happy, positive cloud.   To me, I see their cloud as a call.  It’s a call that they need something.  They need some action…some intervention!  They need prayers.  BAD.   So, whether they like it, want it or hate that I’m doing it… I’m gonna…

PRAY ANYWAY.

Comfort

There are so many around us who need comfort. They are hurting physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually.
I pray for comfort for so many including myself.
Here are the verses that hit me today and all I can say is, “YES! THANK YOU LORD!!!”

God is our security.

Love what you Do, Do what you LOVE

10858style

This month is THE MONTH we see hearts and cupids and red and pink—I think it’s funny how all the pink and red look so good in the store displays and on those gushy cards, but if you were to wear those two colors together –people would think you are definitely an 80s child or just have a big fashion catastrophe going on OR MAYBE you are trying out to be a cupid in one of those store windows???

THIS is the LOVE month—in a WILL YOU BE MY Valentine sense where we ask others to “BE MINE” or give them cute little candy messages that say “U-R-COOL” OR “HOT MOMMA.” (Hot Momma is my fave! haha!)

But instead of just using this month to celebrate our love for one another and think about how we should love more—why don’t we do this all of the time?!?  Love is important ALL OF THE TIME, right?

This is a tough month for me—I am a solar powered person.  The fact that we have had about 5 straight days with very little sunlight is painful to me.  It’s hard for me to keep my sunny attitude during this time when there IS– NO– SUN!  But I hang on to the fact that LOVE is something that can’t be frozen –it is an ever present thing even when the sun is not shining.

…singing now…

The sun’ll come up tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrowwwww…there’ll be sun…

God wrote that song for me especially for days like these.  I don’t know if the sun will be out tomorrow (probably not here), but I keep in mind that it is still shining!

So, there are things that get us down.  For me, the lack of sun can do it.  For you, it probably something else like…???

How do we get over these things and remember to love ALL THE TIME?

Keep on loving no matter what!

You’ve heard DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF?

That seems like a cliché thing to say or something you hear people say, but don’t really mean.

BUT REALLY—

This is so important in keeping your LOVE attitude.

Circumstances creep up on us and we get all stressed out and flip our lids…but you can’t let rule you.

In my line of work, “small stuff” comes in form of a 16 year old (or so) child who whines because I make them draw and color in my class.  REALLY!?  We even finger paint sometimes!  It’s not rocket science.   My class should be a class they enjoy and allow their minds create and imagine.  I think after about age 10, students forget that they are awesome artists… and then they come in my class declaring they can’t draw a straight line or make a stick figure.  I wish I had a true tally on how many times I heard either of those statements.  Oh! But I’m getting off my topic a little…

IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE, no matter what small (or even big) annoyances we have—we can enjoy everything.

And this takes a lot of LOVE for somethings, some instances and especially in the case of some people.  Loving those that annoy us is the hardest,  BUT WE GOTTA DO IT! — if we want all of our months to be full of love.

We have to stop letting little things bother us and be happy.

Love those around you even if it takes a lot of tongue biting and prayer.

To make more room for LOVE ya gotta get rid of worry.

DON’T WORRY –BEEE HAPPY—another popular saying thanks to that song from, I believe, the 80s.  Remember the whistle in it?

Here’s a little song I wrote—

(Remember some of the lyrics:)

… in every life we have some trouble, when you worry you make it double. ..don’t worry, be happy!

Worry is from the devil.  It stops you from showing the love you need to show and most of the time, receiving the love you need.

You know when you worry it’s hard for people to love you.  Most of the time it makes you grumpy and grouchy.   I know when something big is coming up in my schedule that I may be a bit apprehensive about…I get a little crazy.  I try my hardest to keep it in perspective and keep a smile on my face.

STRESS AND WORRY are two major things you have to get rid of in order to allow LOVE to lead you life.  You can’t love what you do and do what you love if you are stressed and worried about what you do.

In Matthew 6 it says DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW, IT WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF.  YOU HAVE PLENTY TO WORRY ABOUT TODAY.

In other words: live in today.  Take care of now.  Do not worry about tomorrow or what is coming, take care of the present!

The definition of worry is TO TORMENT ONESELF WITH OR SUFFER FROM DISTURBING THOUGHTS –OR TO FRET.

Who in the world wants that!?  EWW.

Some may say, “I’ve always been a worrier.”  To that I say SO!…anyone can reform.  I believe that with LOVE anyone can become a better person, a better teacher, spouse, mom, dad– HUMAN BEING.

Get rid of that stuff that clouds your mind and slows you down.  Make more room for LOVE.  Love what you do even when it’s something that you don’t normally enjoy.  Go at it with an attitude of love.

BE BLESSED in the fact that you can show a CAN DO ATTITUDE AND KEEP ON KEEPIN’ ON.  Don’t let things of your world get you down …get a perspective of LOVE!

Yes, I’m yelling all this:

LOVE YOUR SPOUSE EVEN WHEN HE ASKS YOU WHY YOU HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER BOTTLE OF FINGERNAIL POLISH SINCE YOU ALREADY HAVE 200 BOTTLES STORED IN A RUBBERMAID TUB UNDER YOUR BED. (Just because he doesn’t support your addiction, doesn’t mean you can’t still love him!)

LOVE YOUR BOSS EVEN WHEN HE GETS THE STUDENT OFFICE AIDE TO BRING ALL THE CONTENTS OF YOUR MAILBOX DOWN TO YOUR ROOM AND PUTS IT IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR DESK, BECAUSE IT WAS TOO FULL TO PUT ANOTHER THING IN.  (This was actually kind of funny and he still denies he had anything to do with it—blames it all on the student. I still love him …and the kid too.

LOVE THE FLAT TIRE YOU GET ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHERE YOU CAN’T EVEN GET OUT OF THE CAR AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO RESCUE YOU.  LOVE IT THO, BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT IT WILL HOLD AIR AGAIN EVENTUALLY AND YOU ARE BLESSED TO HAVE A VEHICLE (…because some don’t.)

You know, I heard a saying this past weekend –at church, I believe:

I hated the fact I didn’t have a good pair of shoes until I saw someone who didn’t have feet.

Wow, is that putting something in perspective!  Look to what you HAVE, not what you “have not.”

Look to the blessings you have in your life and LOVE WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING…

That is the only way you can make EVERY MONTH a love month.

It might not always be PINK AND RED and full of cheesy sentiments (On cards that cost like 5 bucks!) …but it will be full of love!

LOVE WHAT YOU DO, DO WHAT YOU LOVE!

CONSTANT AND CONSISTENT.

I am just in awe…consistent and constant awe of the fact that the Lord meets our needs and allows us all He does.

We really don’t want for anything. We have food, we have water, oxygen, a comfortable home with nice beds and an air conditioner. Oh Lord, my God, thank you for AIR CONDITIONING!

He is the reason we are able to do what we do. The fact that our body works as the miracle it is…wow!

I am dedicating this blog today to HIM as I should everything I do. He gives me all the abilities I have. Actually, they are His abilities. I believe He just allows them to flow through me in order that I give HIM praise.

We are not blessed by ourselves nor should we boast about things we have or do. We are blessed by God. It’s only through Him that we can function–correctly.

I’m ALWAYS thankful for the blessings. I don’t always voice it, but I pray and pray and pray that I tell God enough. I can’t really tell Him enough. Nothing I do can amount to anything close to what He does for me or my family. He is in constant motion to provide and protect and guide. I praise Him. I thank Him.

He is the reason I smile.
He is the reason I have a job.
The reason I can breathe. Walk. Talk. Sing. Blink my eye lids!

He constantly and consistently shows me I am loved, I am somebody and I matter.

Thank You Lord. Thank You my God.
Thank You for being CONSTANT AND CONSISTENT.

WOMEN! Let’s be FRIENDS!

bar noneI was honored and so happy to be able to go to a Women’s Meeting yesterday at the Bar None Cowboy Church here in East Texas.   I love going to fun events like this where women come together to worship, share and have a good time.  It was extra special since I got to be with my bestie Reagan AND one of my very great friends, Tammy Whitehurst, was one of the speakers.  The other speaker, Teresa Richenberger, had an amazing testimony that truly touched all who heard it.

There were so many things that really stood out to me, but one in particular was the fact that, as women, we should be there for each other.  I’m not talking about rallying together against “the man.”  I’m talking about the fact that we should work together.  One of the things Teresa said was that we shouldn’t be here to COMPETE, but to COMPLETE each other.  That is so true!  I thought about this so much after the meeting.  We should not be comparing each others’ busts or other body parts, OR trying to show each other up by having the cuter shoes or driving the better car.  We are not in competition with each other.  We should be here to love one another, pat each other on the back and help one another however we can.

We should PRAY for each other–constantly.

Women!  Why must we continue to be bitter and mean toward each other?  Let’s stop all that.  Let’s do what GOD really meant for us to do.  Let’s get together, have dinner, pray with each other and for each other, laugh, cry if we must, listen, love and labor (work) for one another.

Let’s be FRIENDS.
