Maybe you don’t have those mad dancing skills, but you can feel this kind of joy. Just get to it!

WEEBLES WOBBLE BUT THEY DON’T FALL DOWN!
Weebles is a trademark for several lines of children’s roly-poly toys originating in Hasbro‘s Playskool division on July 23, 1971. Tipping an egg-shaped Weeble causes a weight located at the bottom-center to be lifted off the ground. Once released, gravitational force brings the Weeble back into an upright position.
The popular catchphrase, “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down”, was used in advertising during their rise in popularity in the 1970s and during the relaunch in the 2000s.
Today I cleaned off my desk. While I was dusting off my little Willy Weeble Wobble guy (I’ve always called him Willy…have no idea if that is his “real” name.) who sits besides my computer and gives me a perma-smile, I thought YES! I want to be a weeble!
I’m not saying I want to be round like an egg although my shape may already resemble the roundness of an egg…I’m saying I want to STAY in my UP-RIGHT position. Again, not saying PHYSICALLY. I’m referring more to my mental state. My spiritual state. My overall attitude.
I’ve always liked the concept of the weeble. He stands there looking at me with his rosey cheeks and happy little smiley mouth and even though he might be tipped, knocked about a bit or even blown at, he will continue his stance. He doesn’t falter or fade. He stands his ground.
That is what I want to do. No matter what, I want to be able to have a perma-smile like him. I know I will be sad sometimes and I might wobble a bit, but I want to keep that bounce-back-ability no matter what! Even though I wobble …I want to NOT fall down!
In this NEW YEAR of NEW THINKING…I want to rely more and more on God to help me recover from any wobbling that may occur. The older I get and closer to GOD I find myself, the more I realize HE is the only way to truly recover from anything…truly BOUNCE BACK…truly wobble without falling down.
I hope you can be a WEEBLE WOBBLE too!
Wobble, Wobble, but don’t fall down!
People do let you down.
I’ve let others down.
I know I try my best to never let people down. I would never do it intentionally. I would hope others are like that too, but we know some people don’t give a rats hair about whether they let others down or not.
For my own personal kids, I believe, I don’t always get the job done to the level it needs to be. Don’t get me wrong, I feed them and LOVE them OF COURSE! I don’t understand parents that don’t do the essentials! When it comes to the extra stuff like playing board games with them (I’m not a game person.), making sure I watch when they say, “Watch Momma!” or killing “monsters” in the closet, I don’t think I am up to par. I let them down. I don’t want to, really. I’m just saying this to clear up the fact that I know I’m not perfect and I’m not trying to say anyone is, but when people let you down–it just steals your joy a little.
I was let down recently by someone that was really trying to do something good and it just went south. I kind of got caught in the middle of the situation and it was really out of my control. I was reminded of the fact that no matter how much you like or trust someone, sometimes things happen and–PEOPLE LET YOU DOWN. They may not mean to or intend to hurt your feelings, but it happens.
I take comfort in the fact that God never lets me down. He is there so I can talk to Him and be comforted by Him. He is the true reason I can keep a smile on my face. I have people in my life who let me down by the things they do, the things they say and the way they treat others… I TEACH HIGH SCHOOL–I witness such craziness frequently. I just have to pray and know that God will take care of those things I witness. He will use it for good. We don’t see it right away or ever a lot of times, but I believe through prayer–asking Him to intervene, awesome things will happen.
I cannot imagine how people can be let down by others and not have the Lord to go to. What do you do if you don’t have God? You turn bitter, I’m sure. You stay mad, hold a grudge, make the situation become bigger and bigger. I’m sooooooo glad I have Jesus in my heart and He can help me move on. He can help me forgive and begin to forget no matter what the circumstances are.
I know that my face dims a little when people let me down, but thanks to MY GOD, I can get that smile back fairly quickly and turn the frown upside down. 🙂
If you have a problem with people letting you down, I suggest ALWAYS…to go to the Lord. Ask Him to help, protect and guide you…
and believe me
^I love these smiley face shirt wearing people right there! ^
It’s no secret I LOVE WHAT I DO. I love teaching and advising. God has blessed me with a great vocation.
This picture above is just one representation of why I love what I do. These leaders are some great kiddos. I’m certain they will do a great job at serving their student body this year and beyond this year, they will continue to be awesome leaders.
Today was our OFFICIAL STU.CO. SMILEY FACE SHIRT DAY. This smiley face shirt design started last year with our council hosting the district spring meeting where the theme was L.E.A.D.= Learn to Love, Encourage Everyone, Appreciate at All Times and DO IT WITH A SMILE! Those first ones were NEON shirts with the black smiley from our “T-SHIRT LADY”— who we LOVE! So, this year, the officers decided to do the smiley again, but get black shirts with the bright smiley. I LOVE THIS SHIRT! It is such a simple message.
People sometimes underestimate the POWER of a SMILE. A smile can do so many things. As a leadership teacher and student council advisor, I preach/teach the need for the simple smile which I believe is the first step to a positive attitude. As a teacher, wife, momma, etc…I believe a smile is ESSENTIAL to keeping a great attitude.
Smile power can make just about any moment seem brighter, lighter and HAPPIER (duh). I truly believe it is absolutely necessary and extremely important to smile especially when you are a leader.
Those smiley face t-shirt wearing leaders in that picture have definitely got it. They know: LEADERS SMILE!
Oh the sweet taste of victory! You did it! You made it! YOU –ARE– AWESOME!
Who in the world does not want to hear those words?
I do admit, I don’t like people to go on and on about how awesome I am, but it feels pretty good when someone takes time to stop and let me know I’m doing something good or I’m looking pretty sweet or even I SMELL GOOD! I know you probably think I’m off (join the club), but the smell good compliment is my fave. It’s a daily goal of mine to SMELL GOOD and when someone confirms the fact that I met that goal, I’M ELATED!
Think back to elementary school when you got your paper back with a huge RED STAMPED SMILEY FACE at the top! I remember those. That was back in the day when that stamp meant YOU DID A GREAT JOB! Thanks to digital graphics and the invention and mass production of smiley face stickers, you might see something like this:
Seriously, you cannot tell me you wouldn’t love to see this on your paycheck! How awesome would THAT BE!?
Yesterday I read this book called THE FUNDAMENTAL 5 which basically goes over things that a teacher can do to help organize instruction and in essence–become a better teacher. Our boss wanted us to read it before we came back from summer break. (Yep, I do what my boss says–I’M A VERY COMPLIANT EMPLOYEE! Hehe) A lot of the book was some “duh” stuff. You know, things that I was like, ok, I know this, but really, as teachers, we need to be reminded. Some stuff was “LIGHT BULB” stuff. You know, things like, “Oh, what a good idea!”
Anyway, CHAPTER 6 was titled RECOGNIZE AND REINFORCE. It was the best chapter. It was one that discussed why complimenting (recognizing) a student’s GOOD JOB is important. We should all know that this is very important, but once you start the year, sometimes, this type of praise and REINFORCEMENT of good behavior, work, etc. kind of dwindles.
It should never dwindle. The fire should continue to burn! Compliments are like FIREWORKS! No one wants the fireworks to stop! (Especially my friend Mary who is a firework queen!)
It should be something we all strive to do!
AND NOT JUST AS A TEACHER.
You know you love it when someone tells you that you are doing a great job, or you look great or YOU SMELL GOOD (or at least I do!). As people, no matter what job we have, we should be the CHEERLEADER for others around us.
Everyone wants to be RECOGNIZED for doing good stuff and in doing that, you will REINFORCE the good stuff.
WHO WANTS MORE GOOD STUFF!!!
I DO! I DO!
I’d be happy even if my kids told me this:
So DO YOUR PART to get more good stuff going. Take a compliment (recognize-ment) and give one:
RECOGNIZE AND REINFORCE!!!
Awesome people are so awesome! They are happy and smiley and NICE. Nice is so important. Is it really hard to be nice? I mean, I know we all have those days where we are just tired and worn out, but is a SMILE so hard to muster? I think NOT! You can always smile –at the very least. Just think of a happy thought and BAM–THERE COMES A SMILE! Simple, right?
I had the opportunity to come in contact with A TON of people this last week. From the airport, to the resort and on to the many different locations we ended up going, PEOPLE WERE EVERYWHERE! Literally, no where I looked was there an empty space which did not contain another human, well, besides the bathroom stall, I guess. SOOO MANY PEOPLE! And I’m gonna let ya know—some were not so nice or happy or even the least bit content with their current situation. I prayed for one in particular that had what seemed to be a permanent scowl on his face. I admit, I do not know what was going on in his life and totally uncertain of the reason for his discontent, but I did and do know prayer can’t hurt it! So, there, in the airport, I prayed for this man. I prayed that something would make him happy. I am sure God did something for him. Who knows if he recognized it as such, but I know it happened, because my GOD is a mighty God and He makes things happen!
God especially makes AWESOME PEOPLE AWESOME…He put in our path so many people who were glad to help us and guide us and make us feel comfortable. He sent nice people who weren’t afraid to share their space or moment in life with us. Brief moments of pleasant conversation or even just a smiley face sprinkled our trip. I caught myself thanking God many times for those moments.
I even verbally thanked a few of our new brief moment friends for being so nice. One man even said, “Oh, I try my best to do just that.” How AWESOME?!?!! That right there is the AWESOMENESS I’m talking about.
We should all do our best to be awesome. It really isn’t a huge task. We just have to remember to keep things in perspective. An attitude of gratitude is important, and most of all, with the grace and the salvation we receive from GOD, being awesome isn’t hard at all! Don’t just think of a happy thought to make yourself smile like I said above, think BIGGER—> ALWAYS keep in mind —He allows us a daily DO-OVER (wipe away the past), the gift of every day (right down to the air we breathe), salvation from anything that has ever held us down (AMEN!) and the constant knowing that He has us in the palm of His hand (CUZ ONLY HE IS IN CONTROL). If we can only do this, life isn’t hard to keep in perspective and we can find it easy to be AWESOME.
Below, I’m sharing the front of a thank you card we received in the mail this week. It made me smile HUGE and reminded me that we should all thank those who have that AWESOMENESS more often, but most of all, thank GOD for putting them right where you need them.
That is it for today. Just do it.
Start with a …
