I just found this Chicken Soup for the Soul story called MAKE A WISH. I’ve been looking for it since the first of school. Finally looked in the right Chicken Soup book–there are so many! It’s a great story to form a leadership lesson around.
A short summary of the story:
It’s a new student’s birthday party and only one little girl in the class of 36 who are invited ends up going. The one that goes is actually prompted by her mother to go and really doesn’t agree that this will be a good thing. Once she is there and realizes she is the only one who is coming, she steps up and helps her new friend have a great birthday party.
She took a potentially horrible day and more than likely made it one of the best day’s of this new student’s young life. We should seek out moments to do this exact same thing.
I’m not saying you will be in this exact same circumstance, but we all find potential bad moments or find ourselves smack dab in a bad situation at times –and WE can help shake it, twist it and turn it in the direction of positiveness.
Look around, SMILE, blow away those bad vibes, make light of a situation and like the Chicken Soup story…make a wish which will change someone’s day (life) at the same time it makes a difference in yours.
THAT is what we are here for!
